12-point checklist before you launch a new SME website

A website launch is exciting, but a rushed one usually means fixing avoidable problems for months afterward. Here's the list we run through before any site goes live.

Conversion basics

  • Every page has a clear call to action above the fold
  • Phone number is click-to-call on mobile
  • Click-to-call button is visible and easy to tap on mobile
  • Contact form sends a confirmation and notifies the right inbox

Technical checks

  • Site loads in under 3 seconds on mobile
  • All pages are indexed correctly, with no accidental "noindex" tags
  • SSL certificate is active and the site loads on https
  • 301 redirects are set up if you're replacing an old site

Tracking

  • Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager are installed
  • Form submissions and phone-call clicks are tracked as conversions
  • Google Search Console is verified and the sitemap is submitted
  • A backup and staging process is in place before future changes

Missing even a few of these is common — and usually invisible until it costs you an enquiry. Worth a 10-minute check before you flip the switch.
